Its taken a LOT longer than we had hoped – but we are finally in a position to formally introduce you to RiYu (pron: Ree-You) Knight
RiYu was born after a previous attempt to create a logo that inspired people was found to be lacking in a few areas – namely originality.
Fitz and I struggled to find another artist that was willing to take on the project for some time – when I was called by a young guy in Caloundra QLD named Hayden. He said he wanted to give it a go and asked us to provide him a bit of an idea of what we wanted……and as it turned out – we wanted A LOT.

Now – onto a little about RiYu.
The biggest change to the original is the re positioning of the shield and the totems on it….although the entire knight has also been “created”
It was important to Fitz & I that any “logo” we came up with for the MC1215 Learning Centre needed to evoke a feeling in those that viewed it. We felt we had achieved that with the original – until I began to feel that it lacked something.
The knight represented the European roots of Magna Carta 1215 and the staunch, valiant, honourable protection it offers “we the people”. But it needed more……The knight needed to represent our first nations people as well.
So I set about asking advice from some respected national elders – asked them to pass around early images for comment and reaction. The result is what you see.
I would like to thank everyone that took part in the process. The respect with which you treated & helped develop this idea was amazing and I thank you all deeply for the education I have been given on the journey to creating RiYu Knight. I would especially like to thank Aunty Glenda for her support and input though the entire process.
The Totems on the Shield of RiYu – are the Spiritual Totems from the indigenous tribes located in the capital cities of each state 7 Territory of Australia . There are over 330 tribes in this great land – and each has a totem. Many have the same totem.
Because of the sheer numbers involved it was decided under consultation with elders that the Capital City tribe totems would be used in THIS rendition – but going forward we will look into developing RiYu Shields based on STATE tribal totems, as a way of localising and recognising as many as possible.
It is also important to recognise and understand that EVERYONE born on this land and currently living – is INDIGENOUS to Australia.
We are all of 1 nation under God, the Creator, the Great Spirit or any other name you choose to give the force that gives us all life, love and freedom to grow though our existence
RiYu is named so because our goal is to reunite this country. We Are One People.
When we recognise the power, strength and community spirit we get when we reunite – you will be AMAZED at what we will create.
